     The leading auto maker in India, Maruti Suzuki brought Maruti Grand Vitara to the Indian car market long time back and launched a new version a year back with a lot of new and appealing features. Since the Indian auto giant imports it from Japan instead of manufacturing it in India, the cost of the vehicle shoots up; the Grand Vitara is available across the world under distinctive names while in India it is sold as the Grand Vitara. The SUV now has competition with cars like Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson and Ford Endeavour. The SUV comes with a 2.4L engine with manual and automatic gearbox

        The Maruti Grand Vitara is powered by a 2.4 litre, 2393cc, 4 cylinder, 16 valve, DOHC, VVT, ViS petrol engine, it produces a top power of 163.5 bhp at 6,000 rpm and churns out a peak torque of 225 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The engine is coupled with a 5 speed manual and 4 speed automatic transmission (in top end variant) which is powered by drive by wire technology. The variable valve timing (VVT) technology is responsible for higher torque output and better fuel efficiency; the engine is also mated with MPFI fuel distribution system for the same reason. With the efforts of all these fuel promising technologies, the Maruti Grand Vitara delivers 7 kmpl of mileage in city and 10 kmpl on highways.

        Maruti India has offered the Maruti Grand Vitara with a large number of comfort features that might not be possible to have on finger tips. In other words, I can say that overall comfort of the occupants is kept in mind when launching it in India. The SUV has been gifted with two seat rows; the front cabin has driver side seat height adjuster, both front seats has got head restraints; front passenger assist grip, driver seat belt warning indicator. The rear seat row of the Maruti Grand Vitara is 60:40 split tumble-folding with three head restraints, centre armrest, assist grip and coat hooks.

          The SUV-Maruti Grand Vitara-comes equipped with numerous storage space inside that includes front and rear cup-holders (two each side), 2 front bottle holders, driver and passenger side seat back pockets, floor console with sliding type armrests and  storage compartment, front and rear door trims with storage pockets, luggage area storage pockets, tailgate storage pockets, luggage room under floor compartment, luggage room shelf, etc.

           The Maruti Grand Vitara comes with tilt and power steering wheel that helps to improve driving comfort, it also has got mounted audio controls. The car has been blessed with front and rear electric windows that are auto drive down. There are more comfort features included in the superb machine such as central door locking switch, remote controlled door locks with hazard lamp answer back function, light-off key reminder, steering lock, 4 convenience hooks, 2 accessories sockets in central console area and 1 at luggage area, remote fuel lid opener.

The variable valve technology (VVT) works for greater torque and fuel efficiency; it also gives the vehicle better off-roading character. The company has also incorporated an innovative Variable Induction System (VIS) that improves engine performance. There is an all time 4X4 mode that gives four choices according to the terrain; the modes work for normal driving, medium off roading, when the vehicle is in mud, sand or snow and towing.

         The Maruti Grand Vitara is assembled with 17 inch wheels and 225/65 tyres that help the vehicle to run on any kind of terrain. The 17 inch aluminum alloy wheels give it sporty look. The tyres are tubeless and radial. The spare tyre can be covered with company tyre cover with SUZUKI logo.

          The audio system is much advanced that is comprised of AUX terminal, 4 speakers and 2 tweeters, sub-woofer and centre speaker, 6 CD in dash with MP3  player plus WMA, digital audio display with clock and illuminated steering wheel audio control.

          The Maruti Grand Vitara comes with standard AC with climate control, pollen filter, the AC vents are located at the dashboard. The AC control are now in digital mode at control panel in the dash.
