    The Indian auto market is dominated by hatchback segment cars, as more than 70% customers prefer cars in such a segment. In order to grab more share in this peculiar market, Ford has launched its stunning model, Ford Figo in India with a competitive price tag that starts from Rs 3.5 lakh. The reason behind such a price tag is to survive the competition with other major players of this segment like Maruti, Hyundai and Tata. The car has been designed while keeping in mind, the Indian road and traffic conditions.

     Ford India has also invested US $ 500 Million in India to double its production capacity to 2,00,000 units per annum that shows Ford's despearation to make it big just like Maruti, Hyundai and Tata Motors. As such, with the launch of Ford Figo in the Indian auto market, the company plans to make its position stronger in the interminably growing hatchback segment.

     Ford Figo is not only a small car in India but is also a ray of hope for Ford Motors as it has placed the company on a track that was much needed from the auto firms perspective. The company has equipped  Ford Figo with everything that a small car owner can wish for. However, there are some limitations since it's a compact car and you cant possibly fit everything here.     The company has taken the price of the base variant of Hyundai i10  as its benchmark for the petrol variants of Ford Figo that is priced at Rs 3.5 to Rs 3.6 lacs. While the diesel variants of Ford Figo are priced in the range of Rs 4.5 to Rs 5.45 lacs. These exceptional price ranges for such a large and stylish premium hatchback model has given it a good start.

Mileage, Average and Fuel Economy

     Ford Figo is available in the Indian auto market in both petrol and diesel trims. The petrol variants of Ford Figo are packed with the all new 1.2L, 1196cc, SEFI engine with five speed manual transmission. The vehicle gives a standard mileage of around 12.5 kmpl mileage in the city while on the highway it offers mileage around 15.5kmpl. The engine also meets with BS-IV (Bharat Stage - IV) emission norms.

Exterior Appearance

    The front of the Ford Figo looks balanced as all the features are added in a specific way. The headlight cluster is big and bold with bright lights.      Ford Figo comes with a three spoked power steering. The attractively colored dashboard that comprises of a digital odometer and tripmeter boasts of a sporty and a stunning look. The audio system is adorned with silver outlines and black colored audio machine. It includes an MP3 player, Radio (AM/FM) and 4 speakers. Bluetooth connectivity deserves a special mention as you can add 4 mobile devices to it. The system offers full access to phone book, call logs on the audio display.
  

    The instrument panel includes the tachometer, digital clock, digital odometer and two tripmeters. The interior is wrapped in fabric upholstery;  dual tone colored seats add to the beauty of the new Ford Figo. The rear seats are fitted in bench like design. The rear seats are not provided with head rests and this allows the driver to look behind clearly, when turning back or in some other situation. The legroom, headroom, shoulder room and hiproom is pretty good at rear seat row not but not ample.

Engine Capacity and Performance

    The heart of the four wheeler, Ford Figo, is located under the front hood. The variants of the Ford Figo are fitted with all new powerplants. The petrol variants of the Figo are powered by 1.2L, 1196cc engine. The engine type comprises of four cylinder, DOHC, SEFI and front wheel drive. The base variant incorporates five speed manual transmission. The 1.2L petrol engine pumps out 71 PS of peak power at 6,250 rpm while it generates 102 Nm of top torque at 4,000 rpm.

    This engine currently powers Ford Ikon and Ford Fiesta and has garnered popularity because of its high performance and excellent economy. Five speed manual transmission and power steering make Ford Figo a smooth performer on the road.
